Fifty Cent Classic

Eastern Division

The Fifty Cent Classic debuted in 2007 and pays out the top-10 finishers.  The 18-hole, stroke-play, net-score tournament is sponsored by Tour veterans Barb and Tom Hoelzle, and Klaus Juska. 
Lunch (1/2 lb burger, fries and a beer) is included in the tournament.

This year's event is a fund raiser for the Women's Oakland University Golf Team. $10 of the entry fee will go to OU Golf. Each player gets two additional mulligans during the round that can be used anywhere except on the green. The player can pick the better of the mulligan or original shot.

The Women's Oakland University team is comprised of eight golfers and one coach. They participate in division one and are members of the horizon league.

Since the pandemic, funding has been difficult.  There is less enrollment at the University, which means less money is available to the athletic teams. Just this year, the women’s golf teams budget was reduced 30%. Golf has a long tradition at OU. This years team had two first place finishes and two runner up finishes during the fall season. During the spring season they finished second in the Horizon League Championships. Amazing accomplishments with such a small travel budget.

All their matches are played in warm weather states due to the cold Michigan weather here during their season. Money is desperately needed for their travel expenses, including their meals.

This team has done so much, from excelling in the classroom to volunteering in the community. In addition they put in an enormous amount of hours training. The team and it’s coach would be beyond grateful for our help. Please help us raise money and support OU women’s golf team and women’s opportunity to participate at this level.
