Fitzpatrick a Nose Ahead
November 4, 2023 Salem Twp at Brae
Burn GC
In a fitting finish that
shows the competitive quality of The
Mulligan Tour, Erika Fitzpatrick topped
Tom Moran in the first ever Runny Nose
Open playoff. Both shot 2 over par
in regulation, then continued to battle
to a tie in the regulation 4 hole
playoff. Continuing in sudden death
until Fitzpatrick birdied the 3rd extra
hole to take the win. Chuck Withey took
3rd at 3 over par and Phillip Parent
tied Ned Loving for 4th at 4 over
par. Greg Kline led with 7
fairways hit, Loving had 30 putts and
Fitzpatrick tied Withey with 11 greens
hit. Kline hit 10.
Prieskorn Top Wolverine
October 29, 2023 Ann Arbor at
University of Michigan GC
Mike Prieskorn made a good
run at the turn with 3 birdies in a row
on 9, 10 and 11 to get to even par and
eventually take the U of M Open. Corey
McCue took 2nd at 3 over par while Jeff
Pasz and Chuck Withey tied for 4th at 4
over par. Greg Kline led the field
with only 29 putts, McCue led with 12
greens and Pasz led with 10 fairways
hit.
Skins Full of Firsts
October 7, 2023 at Links of Gateway
Variety and firsts were
the words for the Skins Game Saturday.
Variety of match results from blowout
wins to squeakers. And firsts in every
match. Erika Fitzpatrick and Rod
Theunissen got their first Skins wins
with Erika getting $38 and 3 skins in
the All Star match and 'Tuna' taking 7
skins and $60 in the East to win by a
mile. Greg Kline took the Central
match for the 3rd year in a row and the
8th time overal, both records. Greg's 3
skins and $44 won by $28. And Mike
Prieskorn took his West match by a
skinny $2 over Jeff Pasz, $28 to $26.
Both had 5 skins. This is Mike's 3rd win
and all have been in different divisions
with an East win in 2022 and and All
Star win in 2020. He is the first Tour
player to win in 3 different divisions.
Players that have won in 2 are Barb
Hoelzle (2016), Chuck Withey (2018),
Bill Gordon (2020), Rich Dunmore (2021),
and Tim Markel (2021)
Central Repeats Playoff Bell Ring
October 1, 2023 Farmington Hills GC
For the 2nd year in a row
Team Central was taken to a playoff by
Team West before finally ringing the
Bell. Both teams finished a sharp 10
over par 294 while Team East finished
finished a distant 3rd. In the playoff
Team West went with David Martin and
Rick Floyd against Team Central's
Captain Kline and Chuck Withey. In
a close battle Central took the title
18-19. Team Central is now tied
with Team West for most Division Bell
wins.
Lardin Gets Dramatic Win
September 30, 2023 Brighton at
Kensington Metropark
Match Play Champion Brian
Lardin closed with a Eagle-Birdie finish
to edge out playing partner and
Commisioner's Cup winner Kevin Gregoire
by 1 shot at the Tournament of
Champions. He secured his winning
Even Par 71 with a 27 foot eagle putt on
17 and a birdie on 18 for the win. Helen
Puffenberger, the Par 54 winner,
finished 3rd at 5 over Par and Willi
Hesse, Memorial and Players champ,
finished 4th at 7 over Par. Lardin led
the field with 29 putts. Willi Hesse led
with 9 Greens and tied Chris Dunmore
(Crazy Brit) with 7 Fairways.
Strong Finish for McCue and West!
September 24, 2023 Bowling Green, OH at
Stone Ridge GC
The West Team spotted the
East challengers a two point lead in the
opening 4-ball session and then took
every session from then on to another
authoritative 18 -12 win in the
Commissioner's Cup. This is a record
setting 5th win in a row for Team West
and 4th in a row for Commissioner Corey
McCue who ties Team Central Commissioner
Greg Kline's run in 2008 thru 2011.
McCue led his team to victory with an
undefeated 5-0 record. He was backed by
Tyler Floyd, Ryan Kiekbusch and Eric
Kiekbusch who all took 4 points. Erika
Fitzpatrick didn't play like a
Commissioner's Cup rookie, taking 3
points. For the East Team, Eric
Birkle and Jeff Graunke led with 3
points each.
Commissioner McCue has announced that he
will step down at the conclusion of the
season. We thank Corey for a great 4
years of leadership and congratulate him
for going out with a record setting
performance.

Labor Are Tough Negotiators
September 10, 2023 Canton at Pheasant
Run GC
In the current climate,
management should have known Labor was
going to be tough this year. Labor
opened the negotiations with a 3 match
smack down in Best Ball. But
Management Scrambled and counter offered
with 2 1/2 points in round 2. But Labor
stood their ground in Round 3 and took
the point and half they needed to secure
the reward of the Cup. Kevin
Gregoire and President's Cup apprentice
Noah Kline led the Labor team with 2
points and the clinching point while
Commissioner's McCue and Greg Kline led
the Management team with 2 points also.
Gregg Nothdurft became the top all-time
labor producer while David Martin moved
to solo 4th ranking Manager. The
winning Labor team included Jeff Cubel,
Gregoire, Kline, Rod 'Tuna' Theunissen,
Nothdurft and Mike Geisser.
The Closer Survives Closing Holes
September 9, 2023 South Lyon at
Tanglewood GC
Chuck Withey posted with
the first group at the Tour Championship
and then watched as the final holes of
Tanglewood Golf Course ransacked no less
than 11 contenders who at some point
early in the back nine were either in
the lead or in contention. Withey's 2
over par over the last 5 holes (and
final score 74) topped all of the 11
contenders except Noah Kline who tied
his score over those holes but could not
cut the lead. Among those who fell just
short were 2nd place finishers Helen
Puffenberger, Scott Wilsey, Mike
Prieskorn and Ned Loving, all at 3 over
par 75. Noah Kline holed the season's
final Albatross on the 13th hole to put
himself in the mix, finishing 2 back
with Chris Dunmore. Puffenberger led the
field with 10 fairways and 28 putts
while Wilsey and Tyler Floyd got around
with 29 putts. Puffenberger earned her
20th 2nd place finish of her Tour
career. Prieskorn moved to 3rd in
all-time Tour Championship winnings and
reached the $2k club in career winnings,
the 4th Tour player to do so behind Greg
Kline, Jeff Klipa and David Martin.
Withey closes his 3rd Major win and 16th
Tour victory in 308 starts. He ties Rich
Dunmore for 7th in all-time Tour wins.
Chuck also took the season long money
title, edging out Corey McCue, who
finished in the money 3 shots back, by
$23.
Floyd Cleans Up at Canadian
September 2, 2023 Canton at Fellows
Creek
Tyler Floyd was
consistently good on Saturday going 1
under par on each nine including a clean
card 1 birdie back nine, eh. He edged
out Greg Kline and Gary Thomas who tied
for 2nd at 1 under par 71. Ned Loving
took 4th at Even par. On course prizes
went to John Ferlito, Mike Prieskorn and
Tyler Floyd. Erika Fitzpatrick earned
the Skins Game invitation. Low
Putts went to Zach Palmer with 27 and
most over par went to Paul Parent Jr.
Notables: Ken Westerman led the
field with 10 fairways hit. Willi Hesse
captured the 4th Albatross of the season
on the Tour. Jeff Klipa finished in the
money to edge into 2nd in all-time
Canadian dollars. Greg Kline logged his
Tour leading 120th career Top-4 finish
and finished 2nd for the 40th time in
his career. The qualifiers for the
Tour Championship were unchanged, and
the money title will be a two-person
race between leader Corey McCue and
pursuer Chuck Withey at the Tour
Championship. For Tyler Floyd this
is his first time winning Canadian money
and puts him into a tie for 4th all-time
in the young event's money list. This is
his 6th Tour win in his 81st start.
Hesse Top Player
August 20, 2023 Taylor at Lakes of
Taylor GC
Willi Hesse was the last
qualifier for the Players Championship
and made the most of it with a 2 under
Par 3 shot win. Hesse charged thru the
field with a back nine 30 to grab a lead
secure enough to survive a late bogey.
He opened the back nine with Birdie,
Eagle, Birdie, Birdie. Defending champ
Chris Stalo took 2nd at 1 over Par. Ned
Loving took 3rd at 2 over Par and John
Raymond tied Noah Kline for 4th at 4
over Par. Greg Kline finished in the
money to remain the #1 all-time Players
money winner. Tom W. Litzler made
his 300th Tour start Sunday. Hesse
gets his 4th Major victory on
Tour with his 7th win in 244 starts.
'Play Ins' Tops in West Championship
August 19, 2023 South Lyon at Coyote
GC
Erika Fitzpatrick took a 2
shot lead thru the turn and extended
that to a 4 shot 1 under Par win at the
Western Championship. Tim Markel made a
valiant attempt at a record 4th win in a
row and tied Tom Moran for 2nd at 3 over
Par. Corey McCue tied Greg Kline for
4th. Fitzpatrick 'played in' to a
Commissioner's Cup spot as did Moran.
Corey McCue finished 4th for the 10th
time in his career. Kline remained
5th in all-time West Champ winnings.
Markel moves to 3rd all-time behind Joe
Robar in Rick Persichetti. Fitzpatrick
earned a 10th Top-4 career finish, a 2nd
win in 40 Tour Starts, both of which
have been majors, and leaped to the #1
World Ranking.
Brandenburg Bookends the Year
August 19, 2023 Washington at
Greystone GC
Joe Brandenburg was the
first winner of the season in the East
and the last! Joe took the Sweet Sixteen
season opener in April to qualify for
the East Championship right out of the
gate. And he found his form in August
for a 4 under par Championship win. 2021
East Champ Gregg Nothdurft took 2nd at
Even par. Commissioner Dunmore took 3rd
at 1 over par and defending champ Thomas
Mulhern tied with Mike Prieskorn at 2
over par for 4th. Dunmore got his
80th career Top-4 Finish on Tour.
Nothdurft moved to 2nd in all-time
Eastern Championship winnings.
Brandenburg moved to the #1 spot in
Eastern Championship winnings with his
3rd Major Title and 2nd Eastern
Championship after a 9 year gap.
This is Joe's 8th Tour win in 162
starts.
Paul Parent Gets 1st Win
August 13, 2023 Farmington Hills GC
Paul Parent finished Eagle
- Birdie to zap the competition at the
Breast Cancer Awareness Open. His 5
under par 66 gave him a 3 shot win over
Chuck Withey. The Closer got closed out.
Rick Floyd and Chris Dunmore tied for
third at 1 under par. On course prize
went to 'Puffy' Puffenberger and Eric
Kiekbusch got the prize for lowest putts
after tying Ron Hiestand with 31.
Dunmore led the field with 12 fairways
hit while Hiestand had 11 and Floyd and
Puffenberger had 10. Parent had 2 eagles
and a back nine 31 to take his first
Tour win in his 45th start. And he
rocked the pink shirt.
The Tour raised $550 for
the Susan A Komen Foundation.
Overall the Tour has raised over $2055
for the charity.
Birkle Best of the West(ern Swing)
August 12, 2023 Brighton at Huntmore
Eric Birkle survived the
rain and birdied the 16th hole to hang
on for Little Diablo Salsa Western Swing
Even Par win. Chuck Withey posted early
at 1 over par and waited in vain for a
playoff. Gregg Nothdurft took 3rd at 3
over par and Dave Oliver, Scott Freude
and defending champ Ned Loving tied for
4th at 4 over par. Salsa winners on
course were Chris Stalo and Ken
Westerman while Tommy O'Neill took low
putts with an outstanding 25.
Westerman led the field with 11 fairways
hit while Tom Moran and John Lennane hit
10. Birkle's round was highlighted
by a natural eagle and his winnings move
him to 4th in all-time Western Swing
dollars and he joins the Millenium Club
in career winnings. It is his 6th Tour
win in 181 starts.

Pieszchala Blue Again
August 5, 2023 Ann Arbor at Lake
Forest
Brian Pieszchala got his
2nd Go Blue Classic title Saturday. He
posted early and suffered thru as one
competitor after another were taken down
by the tough finishing holes at Lake
Forest. Commissioner McCue tied for 2nd
with John Raymond and Jeff Cubel. On
course prizes when to "Puffy"
Puffenberger and Ryan Kiekbusch. Eric
Birkle led the field with 28 putts.
McCue hit 12 greens on the day and
Puffenberger led with 11 fairways hit
ahead of David Martin's 10. Chris Stalo
finished in the money with just enough
to play his way into the West Division
Championship. Rich Dunmore
finished in the money to move into 3rd
place all-time in Go Blue winnings
behind Mike Prieskorn and Jeff Klipa.
McCue's runner-up finish was good enough
to move him to the #1 World Ranking,
displacing Don Ward after a 7 week
run. Pieszchala's win moved him
into a tie for 4th in all-time Go Blue
dollars with Brian Lardin. Pieszchala's
win is his 4th on Tour in 91 starts. His
4 wins have come in pairs, two at the Go
Blue and two at the CCool Open.
Puffenberger Wins Her Tournament (Again)
July 30, 2023 Huntington Woods at
Rackham GC
Helen
Puffenberger seems to often funnel the
emotion of her sponsored Tour event into
superior play. This year she matched her
2019 victory by pressing to a big lead
and then holding on for a 1 shot win at
4 under par 68. Mike Prieskorn
took 2nd at 3 under par also 68 as the
men's par was 71 and women's 72. Gregg
Nothdurft tied Chris Stalo and Scott
Wilsey for 3rd at 1 under par 70. On
course prizes went to Don Jones, the
younger better looking Kiekbush and
someone claiming to be the younger,
sexy, mesmerizing Kiekbush. We're
waiting for ruling on that last
one. Gary Thomas earned the East
Skins Game invitation. Notables: Jeff
Pasz had 28 putts, Nothdurft 26 and
Prieskorn led the field with an
impressive 24 putts. Nothdurft hit 10
fairways while Jones led with 11. John
Raymond holed out from the fairway for
an eagle on a hole that owed him from
last year. Wilsey logged his 10th Tour
3rd place finish and joined the
millenium club with over $1000 in career
earnings. Puffenberger got her 60th Tour
Top-4 finish and moved to 4th in
all-time Caddyshack winnings with her
8th Tour win in her 234th start.
A late donation rounded
off the money raised for Pompe disease
research at $1000.
Kline Validates
July 29, 2023 Monroe at Carrington GC
Noah Kline found his game
and made few mistakes on the day to take
a solid 5 shot win at the Carrington
Classic with a 5 under par 67. Noah gets
his 2nd win of the year after taking the
Tin Cup in April. Chris Stalo took 2nd
at Even par 72, while David Martin tied
Mike Attard for third. On course
prizes went to the Klipster, Martin,
Gregg Nothdurft and "Pin" Lardin.
Notables: Stalo and Chuck Withey led the
field with 30 putts. This was Stalo's
10th Top-4 finish of his career.
Withey became the 6th player in Tour
history with 300 starts. Helen
Puffenberger hit 10 fairways, Rick Floyd
hit 11, Ken Westerman hit 12, but David
Martin went 14 of 14 for an amazing 3rd
time in his career. Even more wow is his
first 2 accomplishments were in 2005 and
2007, 18 and 16 years ago! Young
Kline jumps 13 spots in the World
Rankings to crack the top 50 at #49. His
2nd Tour win in his 9th start puts him
in a unique club with Chris Gabriel as
players with multiple wins being there
only Top-4 finishes.
Gabriel is Double Ugly
July 23, 2023 Salem Twp at Braeburn
GC
Chris Gabriel took his 2nd
win of the year and backed up last
year's Ugly Pants with a
come-from-behind gem. Gabriel hung
around all day while player after player
traded the lead, he then birdied 4 of
this last 5 holes to for a pretty rally
to take the lead on the 18th hole. Tom W
Litzler was hot again on the weekend and
birdied the 17th to make exciting in the
clubhouse. Litzler settled for 2nd place
the 2nd day in a row with a 2 over par
72. Greg Kline took 3rd at 3 over par
and Chuck Withey was 4th at 4 over par.
On course prizes went to Jeff Pasz and
sharpshooter Eric Kiekbusch. The West
Skins Game invitation also went to Pasz.
Mike Giesser was a worthy winner of the
Ugly Pants Contest. Notables:
Scott Wilsey made his 200th Tour start.
Mike Fox led the field with 31 putts.
Jeff Cubel and Helen Puffenberger led
with 10 fairways. Commissioner McCue and
Greg Paddison tied with 11 greens hit.
Kline moved to 4th in all-time Ugly
Pants winnings while Litzler moved to
3rd. Gabriel moved to 5th in Ugly
winnings with his 3rd win in 15 Tour
starts. Interestingly, he has 3 Top-4
finishes in his young career, all wins!
Rich Dunmore Takes Playoff
July 23, 2023 Shelby Twp at Stony
Creek Metropark
Rich Dunmore took his 3rd
Fifty Cent Title on Saturday. Rich jump
started his round with an Albatross on
the 3rd hole and took control with a
front nine 32. But Old Tom Litzler
eagled the 15th hole to catch Dunmore
and send the event to a playoff.
In the playoff, on a tough Stony Creek
green, Dunmore held par thru the 4 holes
while Litzler was not able to recover
from leaving a putt millimeters short on
the 2nd hole. Tim Markel, Eric Kiekbusch
and Tournament Co-Sponsor Barb Hoelzle
tied for 3rd. On course prizes went to
Co-Sponsor Tom Hoelzle and Kiekbusch,
who got as close to the pin as you can
get on #7 with a hole-in-one!
Notables: Litzler led the field with 28
putts and 11 fairways and moved to 5th
in all-time Fifty Cent winnings. Helen
Puffenberger led with 11 greens and hit
10 fairways and finished in the money to
keep our 4th place in all-time FC
winnings. Rich notched his 17th
Tour Win, 3rd by playoff, in his 323rd
start. He passed Joe Brandenburg for 1st
in all-time Fifty Cent winnings and,
interestingly, trails Willi Hesse in the
2023 East Division money standings
by....50 cents.
Erik Kiekbusch Gets an
ACE!
Erik Kiekbusch used a
6 iron on the 164 yard #7 to record
is first lifetime Ace and the 2nd of
this season on Tour. The cheers were
heard across the course.
For the first time, The Mulligan Tour,
thru the efforts of Co-Sponsor and
former OU player Barb Hoelzle, sponsored
the Oakland University Women's Golf
Program with the Fifty Cent Fundraiser.
A good first effort of $1400 was raised.

Crazy Dunmore Dominates
July 16, 2023 Livonia at Whispering
Willows
Chris Dunmore Loves the
Crazy Brit. Or maybe he loves Whispering
Willows. Either way, he shot a tidy 30
on the back nine to accumulate a bucket
of Stableford points including an eagle
on the 17th to put a bow tie on his 2nd
Crazy Brit win. His 41 points topped
Dave Oliver's 37 who finished 2nd. Mike
Geisser and Chuck Withey edged out the
field with 33 points for 3rd. 6
golfers were within a birdie of tying
them. On course prize went to Tom
W Litzler and Gregg Nothdurft earned the
Skins Game invitation. Notables: John
Raymond led the field with 29 putts.
Withey notched his 20th 3rd place finish
on Tour. Commissioner Kline and Litzler
both finished in the money to remain 3rd
and 4th in all-time Crazy Brit winnings.
Chris Dunmore got into the event as 1st
alternate after a late scratch. He
registered minutes ahead of the 2nd
alternate. Dunmore took his 2nd Crazy
Brit win and with 4 other top 4 finishes
in the event, he moves to #1 in all-time
Crazy winnings. It is his 3rd Tour win
in 183 starts.
Graunke is Record Big Dog
July 15, 2023 Waterford at Pontiac
Country Club
Jeff Graunke admitted to taking coaching
after his Big Dog record win Saturday.
Wondrous what a few good tips will do as
Graunke shot and 8 under 64 that would have
won with any pro partner in the field.
Fortunately Jeff had Tom Kim who boosted him
to 2nd place 1 shot back on Friday. Jeff
played a bogey free round including a front
nine 31 to take charge early and not look
back. Helen Puffenberger made a late
charge, birdieing 3 of the last 4 holes to
finish in 2nd at 8 under aggregate with her
Pro, also Tom Kim. John Ferlito took 3rd at
7 under par combined and Chuck Withey tied
with Ron Hiestand for 4th at 5 under par
combined scores. On course prizes went to
Bill Gordon and Erika Fitzpatrick.
Notables: Mike Lee hit 10 greens, John
Raymond completed his 200th career Tour
start and Hiestand padded his all-time lead
in Big Dog winnings. Graunke won his 2nd
consecutive start and set a record low
combined score of 129 and tied the event
mark at 13 under par combined. He got his
20th career Top-4 finish with his 4th career
win in a milestone 100th start.

Lardin Wins With Heavy Lift

Meadows
Brian Lardin played the
most holes of the 16 starters and was
rewarded with an extra hole win in the
Match Play Championship. Erika
Fitzpatrick was runner-up and Greg
Kline topped Ryan Kiekbusch in the
consolation match for 3rd. Kline added
to his all-time lead in Match Play
winnings while defending champ David
Martin remained 2nd all-time with a
T-9 finish. #1 seed Corey McCue also
finished T-9 to move into 3rd in
all-time MP winnings. Lardin played
under par golf on the middle holes of
all his matches and then hung on for
the wins. Fitzpatrick made a dramatic
run, winning the last 3 holes of the
championship match only to fall short
on the extra hole. Lardin gets his
10th Tour win and 3rd Major title in
his 143rd start.
Match Play Day 1
July 8, 2023 at Huron
Meadows
The early thought was
there would be a lot of close matches
on Day 1 at the Match Play, but

made it to the 18th green. And only 2
of the 2nd round matches. When the
dust settled Erika Fitzpatrick, Ryan
Kiekbusch, Greg Kline and Brian Lardin
made it thru to Day 2. Lardin had the
heaviest lift with his first match
going extra holes and his 2nd
finishing on 18. 5th place finishers
were Jeff Pasz, Rich Dunmore, Scott
Wilsey, and Tyler Floyd. Corey
McCue, Chris Stalo, David Martin
salvaged 9th place finishes.
Graunke Strong at Red White and Blue

Taylor Meadows GC
Jeff Graunke built a
solid lead with 7 birdies thru 14
holes at Taylor Meadows and eased to a
3 shot victory. His 4 under par 68 led
Gregg Nothdurft and Chris Stalo who
tied for 2nd at 1 under par 71.
A four way tie for 4th at Even par
included Chuck Withey, Rod Theunissen,
Eric Kiekbusch and Mike Geisser. On
course prizes went to Graunke, Ron
Hiestand, Tom Mulhern and 'Tuna'
Theunissen. Withey and Tuna led the
field with 28 putts. Eric Kiekbusch
hit 10 greens and Nancy Hiestand hit
11 fairways. Tom Moran posted his
300th Tour start. He is the 5th Tour
player to reach that milestone!
Mike Geisser may have set a Tour first
with TWO Albatrosses in one
round! This is Graunke's 3rd
Tour win in his 99th start and he
moves to 4th in all-time Red White and
Blue winnings.

Floyd Foils McCue's Bid at History
June 25, 2023 Brighton at
Huron Meadows GC
Tyler Floyd dropped a
walk-off ace on the final playoff hole
to close out Corey McCue's bid to be a
weekend three-peat winner. Earlier
Floyd went out in 31 to get the event
lead, but McCue came back with an
albatross on the 13th hole and a final
hole birdie to tie Tyler at 4 under
par 68. Ryan Kiekbusch and Rich
Dunmore tied for 3rd at 3 under par
69. The Cooley plethora of on course
prizes went to Tom Moran, McCue and a
pair to Kevin "Kenny G" Gregoire
including a nice shot to a tucked pin
on #15 for a birdie. Tom W. Litzler
and Eric Kiekbusch led the field with
30 putts. Tyler Floyd hit 11 fairways
to lead that stat. Ron Hiestand hit
ten as did Bill Gordon in an otherwise
forgettable day. McCue hit 12 greens
and moves to #1 in all-time C Cool
winnings. Floyd is now 1-0 in his
first playoff appearance. Tyler gets
his 5th Tour win in his 76th start.

Corey McCue and Eric
Birkle came from 2 shots down after
their pro's rounds to tie for first at
the Quad Tour Challenge. McCue then
played solid par golf in the playoff
to take the title by 1 shot. Jeff
Klipa had low round of the day to move
up to 3rd place and Chris Stalo, Helen
Puffenberger and Day 1 leader Mike
Geisser tied for 4th. On Course
prizes went to John Raymond and Gregg
Nothdurft and Mr. Sunshine, the
Klipster, earned the Central Division
Skins Game invitation. John
Ferlito led the field with 31 putts.
Birkle hit 10 greens and moved to 5th
in all-time Quad Tour winnings while
the Klipster finished in the money to
widen his all-time winnings
lead. McCue gets win #12 in
start 136. He now heads to the C Cool

McCue Wins First Shot at Shootout
June 23, 2023 Madison Heights at Red
Oaks GC
Corey McCue took the Red
Oaks Shootout Friday in his first time
playing the event. Corey made the
Shootout on the number in the
preliminary round with a T-4 2 over par.
He then came from behind with an ace on
the final Shootout hole to nip Rich
Dunmore and Mike Prieskorn by 1 point,
15 to 14. Ron Hiestand took 4th with 13
points. Helen Puffenberger, who
tied Dunmore for medalist in the prelim
at Even par, finished out of the money
in the Shootout. On course prizes went
to Chris "Slappy" Dunmore and Tom W
Litzler. Ryan Kiekbusch led the
prelim round in putting and Prieskorn
and Puffenberger each hit 6 greens in
the prelim. Rich Dunmore moved to solo
2nd in all-time Shootout winnings. Ryan
Kiekbusch also made his 50th Tour start.
McCue got his 11th Tour win in his 135th
start.
Ward Sweeps The Weekend
June 18, 2023 Brownstown at Lake Erie
Metropark
Don Ward must have a
little like justice was served with his
victory at the Senior Open on Sunday at
Lake Erie Metropark. In 2020 on
the same course he had a record setting
day only to finish 2nd. This time 3
birdies in the first 11 holes built a
lead that could not be overcome and he
coasted in at 1 under par 71. Greg
Kline took 2nd at even par 72 in is
first time in the Senior event. Ken
Westerman tied Rick Floyd for 3rd. Ward
also took the on course prize and John
Raymond earned the All Star Skins Game
invitation. Kline, Eric Kiekbusch
and Scott Wilsey all tied with 29 putts.
Westerman hit 13 fairways and Rick Floyd
had 10. Rod Theunissen hit 11 greens and
bagged an Albatross on the 4th hole. Don
Ward moved to 2nd in all time Senior
Open winnings, and hit 15 greens which
ties for 2nd in Tour history. His
7th win in 63 starts and big weekend
rockets him solidly into #1 in the World
Rankings as the Match Play Championship
approaches.
Ward First 2-Time Holder of the Grail
June 17, 2023 Ypsilanti at Washtenaw

Don Ward captured the Holy
Grail for the 2nd time Saturday with a
come-from-behind victory. He jump
started a 3 birdie rally with a chip in
on the Par 3 14th hole to overtake Eric
Kiekbusch and post a 6 under par 66 and
1 shot win. Greg Kline tied for
3rd with Tyler Floyd and Jeff Cubel at
71 1 under par. On course prizes went to
Scott Wilsey and "Kenny G" Kevin
Gregoire. Willi Hesse earned the West
Skins Game invitation. Dave Oliver led
the field with 10 greens hit. Ward's
chip in contributed to a Tour record
tying 24 putt performance. Don moves to
#1 in all-time Holy Grail winnings,
becoming the first player to win the
Grail twice. He also moves into the top
50 in Tour Career Winnings. It is Don's
6th Tour win in 62 starts.
Major Markel Back in HPO Winner Circle
June 10-11, 2023 Monroe at Sandy
Creek
Tim "Major" Markel
revisited the winners circle at the
Harbour Pointe Open 11 years after his
first Major victory in the 2012 HPO. He
played consistent golf both days of the
event with an opening round 2 under par
70 to take the lead and an even par
final round to keep that score for the
win. 2021 champ Mike Prieskorn rallied
on day 2 to take 2nd place. Corey McCue
took 3rd at 3 over par. Ken Westerman,
John Ferlito and 2 time winner Brian
Lardin tied for 4th at 4 over par. Day 1
on course prize went to Ken Westerman
and Tom Moran earned the All Star Skins
Game invite. Notables: Westerman had the
low round of the tournament with a 68 on
Sunday to move up 12 places. Lardin
moves to #1 in all-time HPO winnings and
Markel moves to 4th. Chris Stalo
holds on to the #1 World Ranking by
decimals over Corey McCue and Willi
Hesse holds onto the #1 spot in the
Money Standings. Markel gets his 11th

Puff Get 2nd Win in Three Years at the 54
June 9, 2023 Plymouth at The
Strategic Fox
Helen Puffenberger got her
2nd Par 54 victory and 3rd win on The
Strategic Fox course Friday. A final
hole birdie secured a 1 under par 53 and
a 2 shot win over Erika Fitzpatrick.
Tyler Floyd took 3rd at 4 over par and
Kevin Gregoire, Willi Hesse and Barb
Hoelzle tied for 4th at 5 over par. On
course prizes went to Chuck Withey, John
Lennane, Kevin Gregoire, Fitzpatrick and
Corey McCue. Notables: Hesse earned his
10th 4th place finish of his Tour
career. The top 3 in all time Par 54
winnings, Jeff Klipa, David Martin and
Hoelzle all finished in the money
again. The win is Puffenberger's
7th in 222 career starts.
Another Record Setting Day at ESCC
June 4, 2023 Troy at Sanctuary Lake
Grant Goodspeed broke thru
in a big way for his 1st Tour win at the
East Side Charity Classic. He strung 7
birdies and an eagle, including a final
hole birdie to tie the event record and
set a Sanctuary Lake course record of 7
under par 64. Chuck With continued his
hot play to finish 2nd at 2 under par
69. Kevin Gregoire finished 3rd at Even
par and Greg Paddison tied with Mike Lee
for 4th at 1 over par 72. On course
prize went to Brian Lardin and sharp
shooting Greg Paddison earned the Skins
Game invite, except he already has an
invite, so it will roll over to a future
East event. Notables: Goodspeed and Tom
Carroll led with 29 putts, Goodspeed hit
10 greens and Gregoire and Withey hit 10
fairways. Paddison moves into 2nd in
all-time East Side CC winnnigs while
Withey extends his lead in money won for
the event. Goodspeed shot a front
nine 30 to take charge early and get is
1st win in his 32nd Tour start.
Moran Birdies Final Hole to Hold off
Record Setter
June 3, 2023 Farmington Hills GC
Wily Veteran Tom Moran
birdied the final hole Saturday to hold of
a record setting performance by rookie
sensation Zach Palmer. Moran went bogey
free over his first 15 holes to take the
lead. But on a course that is always known
for low scores, Zach Palmer eagled the
14th hole (his 15th) and finished at 4
under net on a Tour record 65 gross score.
Moran was finally bit by the bogey badger
on the 12th and 13th, but rallied for that
final birdie on the 14th (his 18th) to
take the prize. Chuck Withey took 3rd with
a 3 under par 68 and Jeff Pasz tied with
Old Tom Litzler for 4th. On course prizes
went to Scott Wilsey and Ned Loving who
broke the Klipster's heart. Notables:
Litzler led the field with 27 putts and 10
fairways, Greg Paddison hit 11 greens
while Moran, Ryan Kiekbusch and Shane
Witowski had 10. Paddison finished
in the money and moved to 3rd in all-time
RJMO winnings. Palmer's performance
included hitting 16 of 18 greens which is
also a Tour Record, topping Corey McCue's
record by 19 hours. His Gross score tops
Don Ward's previous record of 69, set at
the 2020 Senior Open. For Moran, this is
his 7th Tour win in his 295th start.
With rumors swirling that
this could be the last Reatha Jackson
Memorial Open due to family members
gradually scattering across the country
for warmer climates, the event topped the
$10,000 mark in all time donations to the
Alzhiemer's Association at $10,295 raised!
Rinse and Repeat at Fox Hunt
June 2, 2023 Plymouth at The
Strategic Fox
Corey McCue dominated from
the pole position at the Fox Hunt
Friday. Starting in the Commissioner's
traditional first group, McCue was dart
throwing all day, hitting 15 of 18
greens to tie the Tour record. His
performance included 8 of 9 greens hit
on the back nine to post an event record
70 points. One might think it was over
at that point, but Erika Fitzpatrick hit
9 greens in a row thru the middle holes
to gradually accumulate points. But
Erika couldn't convert on the tough 17th
hole and finished 2nd with an
outstanding 65 points. Tyler Floyd was
3rd at 62 points and Mike Attard tied
Ryan Kiekbusch for 4th with 57
points. Floyd hit an impressive 14
greens while Fitzpatrick total 12 and
Kiekbusch and Helen Puffenberger tallied
11. Notables: Scott Freude booked his
100th Tour start and Eric Birkle led the
field with 27 putts. This is
Corey's 3rd Fox Hunt title and 2nd in a
row and moves him into double digits in
Tour wins with 10 in 131 starts. McCue's
70 points tops the previous event record
set in 2020 by Brian Lardin of 69
points.
Chuck Takes the White Ribbon

Chuck Withey played
steady, strategic and inspired to take
his first Strokes on a Rope title
Saturday. He led the field with best
score on the back nine to bring the
title home at 1 under par 71. Eric
Birkle was 2nd at 1 over par 73. Greg
Kline and Rick Floyd tied for 3rd at 4
over par 76. On course prizes went to
Tyler Floyd and Kevin Gregoire. Tyler
also earned the invitation to the West
Skins Game. Notables: Ken Westerman hit
13 fairways. Ned Loving hit 10 greens
and Kline made the best use of his
string, carding only 20 putts. Withey
earns his 15th Tour victory in his 283rd
start to tie for 8th in all-time Tour
wins with Gregoire and Chris Cooley.
The Passage of Time
May 21, 2023
We make note of our friend
Chris Cooley who passed away from brain
cancer in late summer 2021. This weekend
marks his statistical exit from our
World Rankings. A melancholy moment for
those of us who keep the stats. He
played his final Tour event at the
Dudlee's Plymouth Open two years ago,
finishing 'in the money' in 8th place.
Chris had fond ties to the Casino
Classic as well being a three-peat
winner of the event after losing a
playoff there his rookie year.
Chris' final round of golf was on
Memorial Day 2021. A few of his tour
friends are gathering this Memorial Day
to play a round and drink a beverage in
Chris' honor.
Here's to finishing in the money Chris.
Gabriel gets Playoff Payoff at Casino
May 21, 2023 Oakland at Twin Lakes
Chris Gabriel was almost
overtaken by a hard charging Greg
Paddison who posted 2 birdies and an
eagle in the last 4 holes to pass
Gabriel and finish at 4 under par 67.
But Gabriel got a 16th hole birdie of
his own to match Paddison and send the
Casino to a Playoff. Gabriel got a rare
uncontested playoff win as Paddison was
unable to continue extra play. Willi
Hesse took 3rd at 2 under par 69 and
moved to 3rd in all-time Casino
winnings. Mike Lum took 4th at Even par
71. On course prizes went to Zach Palmer
and John Raymond. Casino prizes went to
Helen Puffenberger, Ron Hiestand, Grant
Goodspeed, Barb Hoelzle, Paul Parent and
Chuck Withey. Notables: Budding rookie
star Zach Palmer hit 13 greens to finish
in the money. Eric Birkle and Ryan
Kiekbusch hit 10 greens on the day. Mike
Lee led the field with 10 Fairways hit.
Paddison led with 28 putts. Chris
Gabriel gets his 2nd Tour win in 14
starts and vaults into the top 50 of the
World Rankings at 43rd.
Raymond Prevails in Playoff
May 20, 2023 Plymouth at Fox Hills
John Raymond ran home a
birdie putt on the 6th playoff hole to
take home the Dudlee's Plymouth Open
trophy. Runner up Ned Loving previously
missed a birdie putt by a fraction the
would have ended it. The playoff
featured several "Oh's" from the crowd
on near misses. Both players finished
regulation at 1 under par 69 with Loving
posting first and Raymond matching with
a 18th hole par a group later. The final
four holes on the Lakes nine felt like a
Talledaga NACAR finish with contenders
wrecking all over the place. If only we
played with walls instead of trees.
Chris Dunmore took third, surviving the
carnage at 2 over par 72 and Bill Gordon
tied Chuck Withey for 4th at 3 over par
73. Jeff Klipa took home two on course
prizes, Eric Birkle took the 3rd and
Eric Kiekbusch won a random draw for the
4th as no skills were displayed at the
11th hole (Lakes #2). Notables: Bill
Gordon posted his 10th 4th place finish
of his Tour career. The top 3 in the
World Rankings all finished tied for
6th. Jeff Pasz also tied for 6th and his
'in the money' finish takes him to 3rd
in all-time Dudlee's winnings.
John Raymond moves his playoff record to
4 -2 while Ned drops to 0-2. Raymond led
the field with 28 putts and jumps up 9
spots in the World Rankings to #28. John
also moves into the top 20 in Tour wins
with his 8th in 192 starts. His first
place check moves him into the select
group of players with over $1000 in
career winnings. The 18th in the
25 years of Tour history.
The Tour raised a near
record $650 for Leader Dogs for the
Blind on Saturday, missing the 2011
record for money raised in this event by
$5
Hiestand's Patience Rewarded
May 13, 2023 at Cherry Creek GC
Ron Hiestand posted a 3
under par 69 early on Saturday at Cherry
Creek, then waited paitently for his
cherry pie to bake. Sure enough, when
the final putt dropped the mid round
leaders had faded and Ron took the
victory. Almost overshadowing Ron's fine
round was 2nd place Willi Hesse who
logged the Tour's first Hole in One in 2
years on his way to a 2 under par 70.
Scott Wilsey took 3rd and Tom Moran tied
Gary Thomas tied for 4th. Wilsey's
consolation was moving into 1st in
all-time Cherry Creek winnings. Hesse
logged his 10th 2nd place finish on
Tour. On course prizes went to Thomas
and Ryan Kiekbusch. Ron got his 7th Tour
win in his 130th start and moves to 4th
in all-time Cherry Creek winnings.
Ron said the best part of his win was
that his son Sam's name is also on the
trophy!
Hesse Plants an Ace at
Cherry Creek
Willi Hesse aced the
15th hole at
Cherry Creek. His PW from 104 yards
was right at the pin. He thought it
was in, and when the group got to
the green and there were only 3
balls in sight, the feat was
confirmed. This is the first ace on
Tour since 2021.
Ferlito & Hesse Charge to Memorial Win
May 6, 2023 at Links at Gateway GC
Willi Hesse and John
Ferlito shot 5 under par on the back
nine to charge to the lead at The
Memorial. A final hole birdie locked in
the win and kept the chasers at bay.
Father-Son team of Rick and Tyler Floyd
took 2nd at 2 under par 70. A gaggle
tied for 3rd at 1 under par 71 including
vets Mike Prieskorn/Jeff Klipa, the
brothers Parent Paul and Phil, and the
ringer team of Greg Paddison/Zach
Palmer. Thom Bales partnered with Tom
Hollander for their 2nd year in a row as
low amatuers. On course prizes
went th Ron Hiestand and Tim
Markel. Klipa posted some career
notables: This was his 100th career
Top-4 finish, 20th time finishing 3rd in
a Tour event, and he moved to 4th
all-time in Memorial winnings.
Ferlito becomes the 22nd Tour player to
make a Major his first Tour win in his
27th start. Hesse lands his 3rd Career
Major title with his 6th Tour win in 227
starts.
Pasz takes Chelsea on Last Hole

Jeff Pasz came to the 18th
tee in the final group of the day
needing a birdie to win. He met the
challenge. Brian Lardin and Tom Moran
previously posted 1 over par 73 scores,
but their playoff hopes were dashed with
Pasz' birdie putt to finish Even Par
72. Don Ward and Helen
Puffenberger tied John Raymond for 4th
place. On course prizes went to Raymond
and World #1 Chris Stalo. Notables: Jeff
Cubel posted his 50th Tour start. Lardin
landed his 10th 2nd place finish on
Tour. Tom Moran moved to T-3 in all-time
Chelsea Classic winnings, topped only by
Jeff Klipa and Old Tom Litzler. This is
Jeff's 7th Tour win in 209 starts.
A New Kline Wins Tin Cup

Noah Kline broke thru for
his first Tour win in only his 4th Tour
start at the Tin Cup. Noah had a great
day at Hickory Creek, posting a 5 under
par 67 and topping John Raymond's 2nd
place 2 under par. Rod Theunissen and
Father Greg Kline tied for 4th at 1
under par 71. The elder Kline posted his
20th 3rd place finish on Tour. On course
prize went to Erik Kiekbusch and Mike
Lum earned the Skins Game invitation.
Don Ward and Ned Loving led the field
with 29 putts. Brian Lardin hit 12
fairways. Noah Kline posted the first
Albatross of the year on the 14th hole
to go with an eagle and 6 birdies to
cruze home. His 5 under par score is the
lowest in this event in 19 years. He is
the 2nd player to gain his 1st Tour win

Klaus is back!
April 23, 2023 at
Fieldstone GC
Klaus Juska returned to
the winner's circle Sunday after
fighting injury for 10 years, taking
home the Sparty Classic in a
playoff. Klaus saved par on the
18th hole to match Ken Westerman at 2
over par 74. In the playoff, Juska was 1
stoke better over the tough 4 hole
aggregate track. Chuck Withey, Greg
Paddison, and Tom Hoelzle all tied for
3rd at 3 over par 75, all three finding
a welcome revival of their games.
Notables: Kevin Gregoire logged his
200th career Tour start. Scott Wilsey
led the field with 29 putts. Juska is
now 2-0 in playoffs and notched his 5th
Tour win in 77 starts and moves into 3rd
in all-time Sparty winnings. The
10 year gap between Klaus' wins is one
short of the tour record of 11 held by
Dan Schwartz.

Justin McCue posted a 2 under par 70
with a birdie on the 18th hole at Salem
Hills. He waited it out until Pat Berry also
posted a birdie to tie and send the Animal
House to a playoff. In the playoff they tied
at par until the 3rd hole when McCue got bit
by a snake. Unfortunately for Berry he got
stopped by an Anaconda. McCue took the
playoff by 1 stroke for his 1st Tour win in
18 starts. Brother Corey McCue took 3rd at 1
under par. Jeff Pasz and Brian Pieszchala
tied for 4th at 1 over par. Corey McCue led
the field with 13 greens hit and his
winnings pushed him into the $1000 winnings
club for his career. Justin had 5 birdies
and an eagle in his winning effort.
Scott Wilsey took the Zoo Animal Playoff
In spirited Zoo Animal Playoff Kevin
Gregoire birdied the first hole, but Scott
Wilsey held serve at par throughout for the
lead and Brian Pieszchala birdied the 4th
hole to tie him. Wilsey took the prize on
the 2nd sudden death playoff hole.

Circle at Sweet Sixteen

Joe Brandenburg opened
with 6 birdies in 10 holes to set the
pace and cruise home to his 2nd career
Sweet Sixteen win. He posted a 6 under
par, the same has his first win in 2014
when he bested Charlie Roy in a playoff.
Jeff Graunke and Willi Hesse tied for
2nd and East Commissioner Rich Dunmore
tied Scott Wilsey for 4th. It was the
20th 4th place finish for Dunmore in his
career and Bill Gordon made his 200th
Tour start Sunday. Brandenburg landed
his 7th Tour win in his 153rd Tour start
and moved to 2nd on the all-time Sweet
Sixteen money list behind the late great
Chris Cooley.

Corey McCue became the
first 3-time winner of the Pine View
Classic on Saturday. On one of the
better weather days in memory for the
season opener, Corey posted 6 birdies
and an eagle while hitting 13 greens to
post a 4 under par 68 for a 4 shot win
over Mike Fox and Ryan Kiekbusch. Ned
Loving took 4th at 2 over par in his
150th Tour start. Corey's 9th Tour win
(123 starts) was also his 40th Top 4
Finish on Tour and moved him to 2nd in
all-time money earned at the Pine View
Classic. He joins an exclusive club of 3
players who have won the Runny Nose Open
and come back to win the season opener
the following year, the others being

Despite a great effort
by the players who switched courses in
order to get the round in, the weather
just would not cooperate on Saturday
and QS-1 was lost.
So on Sunday QS1 2.0 did take place at
Whispering Willows. Rookie Tom Carroll
took medalist with a tidy 79, hitting
9 greens. Zach Palmer was right behind
with an 80. Chris Trevisan and Phil
Parent Jr. got their seasons underway.
Ned Loving took medalist honors for
the vets with a strong start and good
finish to score 1 under par with 7
birdies. Jeff Pasz shot even par and
Kevin Gregoire, Mike Lum and Ken
Westerman finished 2 over par. Kevin
led the field with 29 putts for the
day. Lum had 2 eagles and Westerman
hit 12 fairways.
